If
you love meeting people from all over the world,
know a lot or want to know more about local
history, get a kick introducing school kids
to the thrill of the rails, or simply want to
participate in a one-of-a-kind community-building
organization then Charlotte Trolley is
the place for you!
What kind of positions are available?
Why
is Charlotte Trolley a volunteer-driven organization?
Charlotte Trolley volunteers are ambassadors,
introducing tourists and residents to Charlottes
past and present. Paid staff could recount history,
point out the sites, sell the tokens
but we aspire to something less scripted and
more entertaining. Each volunteer is encouraged
to interject his or her own experiences, memories,
and interests into the interactions with riders.
Volunteers bring freshness, a pride of place
and a desire to be helpful that sets us apart.
Is
an encyclopedic knowledge of history required?
Many
Charlotte Trolley volunteers do possess a love
of history, its true. But well give
you all the training and background information
youll need to interact with Charlotte
Trolley visitors. Youll also find that
Charlotte Trolleys "veteran"
volunteers are always happy to help!
What is expected of Charlotte Trolley volunteers?
There are several outcomes we strive to achieve:
* Have fun and show it!
* Know the facts and share them!
* Learn as much as you teach by engaging visitors
in conversations.
* Encourage different perspectives -- diverse
backgrounds and experiences make our community
a livelier, healthier place.
* Make Charlotte Trolley a stronger organization:
offer thoughtful suggestions; pass along feedback
from visitors; help as often as you can; encourage
others to get involved.
