From a small town of under 10,000 in the 1880’s to a metropolis with a population of one and a half million today, from mule-drawn streetcars to high-tech light rail trains, Charlotte has grown and flourished along her transit routes. A trip along the trolley route will take you past some of the most important and interesting sites of Charlotte’s history, from the 19th Century right into the 21st.

Before taking the Stop-by-Stop tour, you may be interested in the story of Charlotte’s streetcars and the route you’ll be taking. If you’d rather go straight to the tour, or to one particular stop, you may choose from the list.
