After
leaving the East Morehead stop, the trolley crosses
over I-277, the beltway portion of I-77, which
essentially marks the border between Uptown Charlotte
and South End. It stops next at the Westin Charlotte
Hotel, Charlotte’s newest Uptown hotel.
The Westin Resorts and Hotels Company actually
chose this location, which fronts on Stonewall
Street, specifically to be able to take advantage
of the trolley line and the access it provides
to both South End and Uptown. The trolley stop
is at a specially-designed entrance to the hotel,
which has 700 rooms, a gourmet restaurant, and
an outdoor café.
